What a boundary is and is not at work and home

A boundary is a clear statement of what you can and cannot carry. It is not rejection, punishment, or emotional withdrawal.

Healthy boundaries reduce confusion by clarifying responsibilities early. They protect relationships from repeated conflict and unspoken expectations.

At work, boundaries can sound like: I can deliver this by Friday if we remove two lower-priority tasks. At home, boundaries can sound like: I can help this month, but not at the same level every month.

Consistency matters more than intensity. Boundaries become trusted when your words and actions stay aligned over time.
